Editing and Rewriting The Maura Adventures (Season 1)

Day 1 (8/1/19): Reviewing and Editing Chapter 1. Gotta start somewhere. Instead, I ended up working on a submission.

Day 2 (8/2/19)
I REALLY started to edit and rewrite parts of the first chapter. I also ended up taking out a hefty amount of filler. My goal was 3000 words and I met that, even after taking things out. I guess it was a good thing. I aim to keep the exposition at a minimum and the action going.

Day 3 (8/3/19)
I started the second chapter, but I'm nervous about this one, like I don't want to read it, sort of thing. Then I remember, I'm revising this stupid thing for a reason.

I rewrote most of Chp 1 instead, so I'll have to catch up tomorrow with Chapter 2.

Day 4 (8/4/19)
I finally finished editing and it was mostly rewriting things. There are a few chapters I plan to rewrite in their entirety. I just don't know if I can do that in only two days.

Well, Jesse just met Aadya, who saved him from getting sold to the black market. I'm moving onto to Connor's Debut. Or rather --- ----- Sorry. Spoilers.

Day 5 (8/5/19)
(Didn't Update or Edit)

Day 6 (8/6/19)
I started editing Eps (Episode) 3, and I'm already thinking about Eps 4.

I don't know why you're watching me suffer, but alright...

I rewrote and added things mainly, as it's been almost an exact month I've written this chapter. So, I'm just as confused. I edited mostly on the computer but some edits were on the sheet I printed. Ctrl + F is a beautiful thing.

Day 7 (8/7/19)
I started working on Episode 4.

Day 8 (8/8/19)
(Didn't Update)

Day 9 (8/9/19)
I started rewriting some things in the fifth episode. I haven't gotten around the Forth, but I'm still trying to keep myself on track.

Day 10 (8/10/19)
I started Hemingway Editor again and catching all my passive voice.

Day 11 (8/11/19)
(Didn't Update)

Day 12 (8/12/19)

Day 15 (8/15/19)
(Didn't Update)

Day 16 (8/16/19)
I started Editing again, I haven't been updating the past few days, but I did manage to actually edit those days. The first ten days will be published, and then there will be a two-month Hiatus and then Publishing will resume as usual.

Day 17 (8/17/19)
Man, Jesse's mean in Chp 8 and 9. Personally, I don't know if I want 8 and 9 to be Jesse or Wilson centric, but, eventually, I leaned into Wilson centric. He's alone, he doesn't know what's happening ad he's teamed up with the very kid he screwed over. I hoped I'd get the time to let Aadya give him a good boot in the ass, but I never got around to it.

I guess seeing it through Jesse's eyes is understandable as he was sold as an object. I went over this chapter a couple times with editing software and a few new eyes in my circles, but it didn't satisfy me as I'd hoped.

I started filling come cracks and rewrite some scenes, in the end, and I moved on to the second part.

Day 18 (8/18/19)
Happy B-Day to a 20-something Percy!

Got that out of the way, now...

Episode 8, Pt Two, or Episode 9. Whatever you want to call it.

Day 19 (8/19/19)
I managed to get some done, mostly chp 9, and some of 10, but I might rewrite a bit of 10. I added more in 9.

Day 20 (8/20/19)
I finally got around to fully editing 10. Jeez, my syntax is god-awful...

Day 21 (8/21/19)
I'm rewriting some of Chp 10.

Day 22 (8/22/19)
No work done.

Day 23 (8/23/19)
I think I'm going to rewrite a few things in Chp 1 and 4.

Day 24 (8/24/19)

Day 27 (8/27/19)
Due to a new job, I ended up cutting back on editing, But I managed to add some and re-edit chapter 1.

Day 28 (8/28/19)

Day 29 (8/29/19)

Day 31 (8/31/19): Que the QUEUE!!! (AKA: I'm going to schedule everything. A new chapter comes every Sunday, from September 1st and on out. The next season is planned to be written in June of 2020.)

Check out Chapter 1! >>> Here

Writing The Maura Adventures (Season 1)

I pitched the idea to myself for shits and giggles that Aadya gets reincarnated. Then I actually got to thinking about it. She gets reincarnated in the 21st century, then I thought of Alistair. Reincarnation is a possibility, I might as well have fun with it.

Then, there was the prospect of Regina and Capri having a future together.

I can only guess this started going on since March 2019. The document says I started writing it in Early April 2019.

I usually like to throw myself into the action. So, that's what I did to Jesse. Cuz why not. Capri is a lot more sociable from when she was a kid, as planned from a few years ago. I started planning Capri and Regina since I was 14, so the difficulty with writing Capri about the Death of Regina really varies. The idea about the mystics shop came from Capri commemorating Regina in this sort, plus they're one of my most visited places when I was a teen. So, I knew my way around them a bit.

I had to write at least five days worth (1300 words at least per day, so 6500 total today,) and write out little scenes so I can ascend those into an actual coherent story later.

(To sum it up, the family is taking a vacation to NY and I'm probably not going to get any work done.)

I planned that September is going to be the publishing time, and I am going to edit it all in August and rewrite if I have to.

Day 1 (6/1/19)
Ok, so I was right, I wasn't able to write until really late at night and we're sharing a room so I snuck in the bathroom.

Day 2 (6/2/19)
AHHHHHHHH I managed to get some work in... The family and I went to Central Park, looking around and ate hot dogs for lunch. Jesus fuck, do my feet hurt. Never doing six hours of walking again…

Day 3 (6/3/19)
Ok, I finally finished the first chapter, now to re-evaluate my life choices, because if it took me three draws of cards to actually try and fit a new story for the first damn chapter, I don't know how the rest is gonna turn out.

I think I pulled something but it was subtle, I feel pain sometimes when I walk and I don't know what's causing it.

Day 4 (6/4/19)
Not much progress, NY is busy, and I want to drink.

Day 5 (6/5/19)
Managed to get in another 2000 words on the plane back to CO. But they were really scattered. I went from Chp 6 to 1, to 6 again, to 3, to some future things.

Day 6 (6/6/19)
I write most of chapter one and 6, but I'm still struggling to find a decent plot on Connor's debut. The sixth episode is coming along, proving to be a good bonding moment between the goth styles Aadya and Jesse share. It also starts as something improving the visions Jesse starts to get.

I also wanted to do something with a sort of spider-sense, looking a la Danny Phantom with Jesse coughing black smoke every time danger abounded, but I discarded that.

I started working on Episode 4, using the three-card spread with tarot cards, and I wanted to put in a terrible joke Aadya tells the gang, which prompts Kellen to leave out of embarrassment.

Very progressive, and I think it was good, but My word count was a few words short.

Day 7  (6/7/19)
I didn’t get much done until late at night. I started to use the cards again, but I’ve been trying to get some horror shorts in. I might send one into NoSleep.

I started doing word sprints again and I might turn whatever gibberish I made into something I'll use in the future.

I managed to get it along with Chapter 6, as a bonding moment between the Parents and the Kids. Typical kids stuff, ya know? Sneaking out for a concert and the parents catch them. I feel this chapter doesn't add much to the plot aside from Jesse's shadow powers, despite the powers coming into play. But throw that in any other situation and it could have been the same.

Then again, the watch breaking is going to be another plot point, involving Jesse's Past self and Kellen's past as an exiled king. No spoilers or anything, but... yeah.

On the brighter side, I reached the Quota for the day. The downside is, I have to see if it’s good.

Day 8 (6/8/19)
This was a good day, I’ll say. I met my quota in an hour more or less, and I had more time to begin an idea I’ve had for almost a month now. I wrote most of chapter 6, and damn was that a fun chapter. Just teens being teens, yeah?

You may see that this is a very dated story, considering the technology (Flip phones and pagers) and actions (Sneaking out because, why not?). To be honest, I’ve never done the stuff they’ve done (Sneak out or own a flip phone, I owned a sliding phone.) but for some reason, it felt like I was there. Being a young rebellious teen again…

Though, if it’s one thing I haven’t outgrown, it’s my darkness phase. You know the one.

Day 9 (6/9/19)
#TooAttatchedtoAChapter
I started Editing Chp 6. And I may need more paper for the printer to print this whole damn story out. One chapter at a time.

I moved Episode 10 to Episode 12.

I started writing Chp 7, and I hope I can fill out the rest of the chapters. I think I’ll just write and complete each chapter every three days…

Day 10 (6/10/19)
So, I managed to get in 600 words, though I didn’t meet the quota.

Day 11 (6/11/19)
I feel like shit and I don’t think I can really write.

I started getting along with the Prince of Darkness arc, but it’s not picking up as quickly as I’d hoped. I’m all in for good pacing, but this is taking forever.

I started writing Kellen’s Summary of his 1000+ years of life.

Day 12 (6/12/19)
I have deemed this to be a good day! Over 2000 words, and caught up to my quota, after missing and writing only half of it for the past two days.

Already, I’m thinking of writing a Sequel of The Queen of Swords: The Path of Ashes. This may be done in 2020. I just remembered I have a SwoonReads, and I might post the Steel Queen’s Anomie and the Steel Queen’s Champion, and the Steel Queen’s Adversary.

Day 13 (6/13/19)
OK, So, I managed to cram some work in after the game.

Day 14 (6/14/19)
Ehh…

Day 15 (6/15/19)
I’m getting worse and worse updating this thing. I started working on 8 and started replanning 7. Well, I managed to write 2000 words today. Very good, and I’m back on track.

Day 16 (6/16/19)
It was an exceedingly good day. I went over my word count in less than an hour at the library. And I’m still going. The pacing in Chp 9 is going well. I need to work with everything else by the time’s end, though.

I think some people will recognise Chp 9 as Danny Phantom’s Frightmare from Season 3. I remember when I first saw it, it was weird, like it didn’t belong, so to speak.

Day 17 (6/17/19)
(Didn't Update Blog)

Day 18 (6/18/19)
This was very last minute, and I managed 1500 words in an hour.

I don’t aim to redeem Kellen for his previous actions and plans, but I do hope for a bittersweet ending for him, more than anything. He gets to live his life, but he doesn’t find peace, sort of thing.

Day 19 (6/19/19)
This may be pulling academic Icarus, getting too close to the due date, but I might pull through.
I’m still trying to warm up to Wilson, as a character. What he did is Despicable, Jesse or not.

Human trafficking is a topic I’ve been searching about for a while and wrote about in another draft.

Day 20 (6/20/19)
I almost made it to the Quota.

Day 21 (6/21/19)
I’ve been rearranging episodes and pondering when I should publish them. I started writing the older episodes, to finish and move on. I might be moving the fifth episode into the fourth episode.

I pulled an Icarus, again. I typed in the 1000-something words at night.

Day 22 (6/22/19)
I rewrote most of Chp 3, to a place where they meet Aadya. I’m getting worse at this… I almost missed today, and Write track isn’t letting me in. Gotta write 2000 tomorrow to be sure.

Day 23 (6/23/19)
I met my goal, twice so. 2600!!!!

Day 24 (6/24/19)
I met my goal, but in two hours tops. I felt so uninspired that I might redo Chp 10. I wanted an Aadya-centric one meeting Stephanie who will come back later. I pulled an Icarus on this one.

Day 25 (6/25/19)
I worked on Kellen’s part of the story, using Tarot Cards rather than playing cards at a poker game. The Big Blind won. Another Icarus night.

Day 26 (6/26/19)
(Didn't Update Blog)

Day 27 (6/27/19)
Jesus, I got terrible at updating this. I managed to write almost 3000 words! And it was busy. I’m working to complete the First monarchy Arc, and I started to write the prequel. The Steel Queen’s Anomie. I’m working to set a specific time to work on it during November.

I finished the second half of Kellen’s part of the story. He meets Maz, a strange man that can make Prosthetics really come alive. Using Souls.

In the meantime, I’m also completing the Fae selling Humans arc.

Day 28 (6/28/19)
Didn’t get to write today. I’ll have to try again tomorrow.

Day 29 (6/29/19)
So I managed to get to the library and work, and I think I’m getting lazier and lazier. I’m thinking of adding another character for the sake of Aadya trying to protect the kid. I’ll edit the second chapter to fit in with the second assassin’s description. But Aadya’s arrows are framing her as the attempted killer nad it will come up later in the series.

Day 30 (6/30/19
RZDHGXFJCKVLJG><HXNFZB

Day 31 (7/1/19)
So I managed to complete the Pilot and now I have to rewrite everything to fit the themes… I’m going to keep some physical notes on this still. I have the plans and a red pen with me and I’m not afraid to use it!

Day 32 (7/2/19)
AHHHH I JUST REALISED I ACCIDENTALLY DELETED THE CHALLENGE PAGE

I started writing and completing everything. That’s the goal for the first two weeks before i get on with the story.

Day 33 (7/3/19)
I met the word count.

Day 34 (7/4/19)
No writing. Fuck holidays and “family time”.

Day 35 (7/5/19)
I tried to meet the word count but something is stopping me. Like an actual dam is in my head. The library no longer provides me with comfort and the house is not ideal. I may have to extend this project. I started on 17 and 13.

I can only hope I can actually read what’s happening.

Day 36 (7/6/19)
(Didn’t update)

Day 37 (7/7/19)
I managed to reach the word count and beyond.

Day 38 (7/8/19)
(Didn’t update)

Day 39  (7/9/19)
(Didn’t update)

Day 40 (7/10/19)
Jesus, I’m getting terrible at updating this. Anyway, yesterday, I made it to 800 but that was it, so I caught up today.

I’m thinking of rewriting a few things, but most edits will just be either adding things for taking things out. Mostly adding things in, especially for Jesse’s Powers. I’m thinking of leaving Connor with no powers. But I want to use his art skills for something more. I think it’s better to leave them as simply that, nothing. Just a hobby.

In the meantime, I’m still trying to move the story along. Jesse’s powers are developing, and to his credit, he’s working for it. Kellen’s shadow powers have fizzled out and moved on to Jesse, but he’s still training him, something showed with the Real Human Connor.

Day 41
(Didn’t Update, forgot what I did.)

Day 42
(Didn’t Update, forgot what I did.)

Day 43
(Didn’t Update, forgot what I did.)

Day 44
(Didn’t Update, forgot what I did.)

Day 45
(Didn’t Update, forgot what I did.)

Day 46 (7/16/19)
I finally updated the last five days and I missed three days of work, which I’m getting really worried about. I’m behind on the word count, but these last few chapters should fix that. I have Season 2 planned out, and now I just have to write it in June and July, like this year.

I’ve started a new project. King and Killer, where I tell Kellen’s story with Elijah.

Day 47
(Didn’t Update, forgot what I did.)

Day 48 (7/18/19)
I dunno why I’ve gotten so terribly at updating this. But i wrote over a thousand for Connor’s arc. He’ll get closure.

Day 49 (7/19/19)
I planned more about the Fourth arc than I wrote. I want to incorporate the Ring of Hexe, a recent invention I want for interdimensional travel and must never be put in the hands of the Monarchy.

More Info?
I’m still working on it.

Day 50 (7/20/19)
So I’m almost at the end of my rope, here. I started finishing more of the previous chapters. I’m still replanning chp 20, and making sure this goes down with a bang, in such a mundane manner, so to speak. We’re not killing the Heiress, but destabilizing her and setting as many people free, alive and happy.

Day 51 (7/21/19)
Didn’t write much but I did get some in. I changed my word count goal, but it’s still a novel at this point.

Day 52 (7/22/19)
OH MY GODS I WANNA DIE WHAT WAS I THINKING, WRITING THIS PROJECT FOR TWO MONTHS. On the bright side, my focus has been so hyperactive that I only started two new projects. The Steel Queen’s Anomie ver. 2 and Nazeer’s story.

VVVV If I were to describe the process, VVVV

Harry Potter Spells Book Tag

Made by whoever runs Dreamland Book Blog

Flagrate
A book you found interesting but want to rewrite.
Not that I'd want to rewrite it, but I'd wish Spellslinger's style was more like Traitor's blade. De Castell has a hell of a talent for writing fight scenes. There's almost a distinct slowness about Spellslinger's writing style. I do wish the pacing was a little quicker.

Alohamora
A first book that got you hooked.
The Amulet of Samarkand by Jonathan Stroud. It got me back into reading, as a double, after a depression I had.

Accio
A book you wish you had.
DOCTOR!!!
Crownbreaker.

Avada Kedavra
A Killer Book
Ptolemy's Gate. It made me cry for the first time in a while.

Confundo
A Confusing Book
Queenslayer, because I'm not into Politics a shit ton... So, I don't know the stakes of reputations as I should. Aside from the Life-or-death match of cards...

Expecto Patronum (There are two, but I'm going the Childhood prompt)
A childhood book connected to good memories
The Bartimaeus Trilogy (Reading it twice as a kid to a grown adult made me realize holy shit this is dark...)

Sectumsempra
An exceedingly dark book.
See Above.

Expelliarmus
A book that took you by surprise.
A Darker Shade of Magic. Romance took a damn backseat for once!

Prior Incantatum
Latest read
The Silver Scar

Riddikulus
A Funny Read
Golem's Eye and Ptloemy's Gate. the series is still pretty dark, especially for a children's book.

Sonorus
A book you think everyone should know about.
This is kinda weird, but Timekeeper by Tara Sim. This is if you like LGTBQ Clock/Steampunk.

Obliviate
A book or spoiler you would like to forget having read
The End of Traitor's Blade. With *******. (These polite asterisks are telling you to read it yourself.)

Imperio
A Book you had to read for school.
Believe it or not... Maximum Ride. I was 12, so I liked the first three back then. Then I read the series again. I do still have the third of the Fugitives series. It's the only one I liked.

Crucio
A torturous read.
Get ready for me. After.

Diffindo
A Book you could sever from its series.
Soulbinder. I know Kellen is a traveller, but it just doesn't tie in with the previous adventures. Unless it's tying in with Crowbreaker... I don't know.

Flipendo
A book that repels you.
More like repulses me. See Crusio, After by Anna Todd. I'll be posting that review when I articulate my thoughts without the curse words.

Stupefy
A Book that left you speechless.
Ptolemy's Gate. THAT ENDING, WHY STROUD?!

Yay, so if you haven't figured it out, I am obsessed with some and it'll seem like I don't read a shit ton.

This is called the Rapid Fire Book tag, made by GirlReading on Youtube, but I hate my face and I'm sure you will, too so let's get right on to it!

Sometimes. I always look at the dust cover or back for summaries. Spellslinger (US) doesn't have the prettiest cover, but I love it all the same.

- Book to Movie or Book to TV Adaptations?
Neither. I'm scared after what they did to Percy Jackson.

- A Movie or TV-Show You Preferred to its Book?
... Chronicles of Narnia, if I'm honest. It was my childhood, and I loved the way they did the battle scene.

- Series or Standalone's?
Yes.

Alright, those were all the questions, I don't have friends to tag, so go ham if you want to.

Book Reviews: What you need to know.

My book reviews may be invalidated, but I have a terrible memory if anything. I read the book multiple times and write down the recaps as I go. then I read the book again to gather my own thoughts.

Yeah... I read books multiple times for reviews. At least twice for the sake of asking questions and anything that would require me to think a little deeper than just saying, "Oh, it's just a story" and such.

I don't retain information as well as I used to after I burned out sometime in High school, I think.

So yeah, my reviews may be invalid as I reread the books at least twice to form my questions and thoughts.

Four Londons Book Tag

Ok, I found this just a couple days ago, and I just thought, "A grade QUialty book content." So I decided the try it out.

0001-42 (7)

Oof... Trying to Quit... OK... It has to be Timekeeper by Tara Sim. The series ended in January (2019). Not going to lie, every time I go to the library, or the bookstore, that's where I go. EVERY TIME.

0001-42 (6)

GRFM: Throne of Glass series. I got into the first and second book. The second book was better but that twist at the very end just turned me off for the rest of the series. That trope might have worked if I was 14, but I've read too much to foresee the future like a goddamn oracle.

0002-42 (2)

I'm not going to lie, I have a fairly black and white vision about what I think in a book. That is weird from someone who prefers grey and grey thinking in books. But I will give Twilight, yes TWILIGHT, credit where it's due. This quote. And this is genuine I found this funny, compared to everything else I found funny.
Jacob: I told you—
Bella: Did you know that 'I told you so' has a brother, Jacob? His name is 'Shut the hell up.'

Red london

AGJJDGFVBN OK ok ok, don't get me started now, but out of all the books I feel blessed to own right now, it has to be the Spellslinger series, Shades of Magic, Percy Jackson, and the Bartimaeus Trilogy (WHY, STROUD!??!)

Out of the ones I don't own, Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the Universe.

The Bartimaeus trilogy. It's surprisingly darker than I remembered, especially for a middle-grade
 book...

Frankly, A lot of fantastical worlds has me feeling this way. Obviously, they're meant to have these ups and downs and seeing a lot of people romanticize kinda weirds me out. But depending on the timeline, The Hunger Games, Harry Potter (We may as well be living in this one) Spellslinger (especially if you have the Shadowblack... but on the bright side, FERIUS) Shades of magic, (Holy christ, does Osaron scare me...)

0002-42

Out of what I read in Throne of Glass, the first and second book. The first almost turned me off completely but for some reason, I still had hope, so I got the second one.

But for a series as a whole, Percy Jackson. If it can count. I found it started off very well, and having a fairly accurate portrayal of ADHD (Speaking from first-hand experience) and ended on such a note that I doubt the sequel series could top it. This is not to say I don't like the Heroes of Olympus series, to clarify. I like it. Like it.

OK, screw that format, tilt your screen or something.

It says, White London: A book series you would kill for.

Spellslinger. I know, I know I'm mentioning Spellslinger a shit ton, but just trust me, I'm not getting paid. I  really do love the series, and my heart still beats for the final book (WHICH COMES OUT IN DECEMBER SDTFYGUHILJKJGHFGDFG *Insert me sobbing with Queenlsayer in the background... *)

Screw that, save all the audiobooks, and die with my phone happily.

0001-42 (11)

Three guesses as to what it is, and the first two don't count.

0002-42 (1)

I'll be breaking this one for the sake of an experiment. A Court of Thorn and Roses and After. I'm not a big romance fan, but I'm slowly getting concerned. Has romance changed at all in this past decade?

0003-42

VE Schwab. and Sebastien De Castell. (Trying to get the Greatcoats series...)

Question: What character/s from the Shades of Magic trilogy would you like to see have a spinoff?
Oof... Not really a spin-off, but maybe a prequel? One of Lila's parents and one of Kell's Parents. Though I've heard a backstory for Kell is coming in the Conjuring of Light collector's edition.

If you could rule one of the four Londons, which one would you rule?

Well, I wouldn't like to rule it, but I would like to be a resident in Red London. Maybe a simple artisan.
